Crystal Vision

Still going on a great streak of clean, fun surf for the past week or so. A couple of paintings I did from a while back that have the holidays colors going. I might have posted them before, but not together for the added holiday cheer. Tomorrow's forecast is looking fun.

Space Invaders

For Maeve and Macklin's space themed birthday party, Amy decided she wanted an old-fashioned wood cutout for the kids (and adults) to get their pictures taken in. Luckily, I had a pretty big piece of particle board layer around and began the cutting and painting process, before adding some detail to things with a paint pen:

It was pretty difficult to get the kids to pose properly at the same time, so this was the best we could do:


Overall, I think the holes were a little on the big side, and I should of had the astronaut looking head on, but some of the adult pictures turned out ok.

Long Term Subscription

A friend of mine uncovered an old issue of Surfer Magazine from the 70s, right around the Magic Sam era. There were some pretty good pictures, a couple interesting articles (surfers' favorite vegetarian recipes and a piece on Mike Doyle), but perhaps the best part was the poetry section. That's right...poetry. There can be good poetry and bad poetry, but this stuff was in a class by itself, only born of the "stay psychedelic" era:
